Seniors Recreation Program

Open to all seniors and adults with disabilities

We run senior’s recreation programs on weekdays that include physical activity and fitness classes, crafts, and games. Fees vary by program, but all of them are inexpensive and some are free. Prices are indicated below, along with descriptions of the individual programs. There is no requirement that you live within our service area to participate.

To register, call 613-829-9777 to schedule an appointment where we will ask you to fill out some forms.  We may also be able to help you if you need financial assistance to pay the fees.

Friday May 26, 2017

Wakefield, QC

Cost: $48 (excludes lunch)

Explore beautiful Wakefield and join us for brunch at Chamberlain’s Lookout *located above the Wakefield General Store) for good company, a hearty meal and a breathtaking view.  ** Individuals must be mobile enough to walk up a flight of stairs.  Call to register & to request the affordable menu.

Britannia Beach Picnic

12:00 – 2:00 p.m.  Cost:  FREE

Transportation is not provided.  The group will meet in front of Baja Burger Shack located beside the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre.  Meals and ice cream are available for purchase or bring you own brown bag lunch.  Fun & games to be had!  Please call to register and to request public transit information to Britania Beach.

Lavender Ridge Farm & Vineyard, Pontiac, QC

Cost:  $40

This quaint vineyard is located just past the Gatineau Hills.  Sample their world famous lavender cookies, bread and wine or purchase aromatherapy items in the boutique.  Call to register & request flyer when it becomes available.

St. Albert Cheese Factory, Cheese Curd Festival

9:30 – 2:00 p.m.

Cost $40

Cheese lovers rejoice!  Learn how the famous cheese curds are made, enjoy a comfort food lunch & explore the gift shop.  Call to register & request the flyer when it becomes available.

 


 Mondays

Bridge:  Held weekly at the Westwood’s Retirement Residence, 2374 Carling Ave.  1:30 p.m. room 1.  Light refreshments are provided.  Cost:  $25 for the entire season from May to August.  No additional fees for members who pay the $25 monthly membership fee.  Bus routes include 16 Main/Britannia & 85 Lees/Bayshore.  Call to register 613-829-9777.

Nordic Pole Walking  2:00 p.m.  Group meets at Jill Brown Park (by Olde Forge Parking Lot)  Poles are available for use.


Tuesdays, May – September

Woodroffe United Church

Location, all programs: Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue. That’s on the east side of Woodroffe between Richmond and Carling.

Starting Date: Tuesday, May 8, 2017

Registration Fee: For our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday programs, you pay just $25.00 per month for all four days. The drop-in fee is $5.00 per day.

Physical Activity and Fitness

  • Zumba Gold at 9:30 a.m.
  • Be Well at 10:30 a.m.
  • Chair Yoga at 11:30 a.m.

Crochet & Knit  10:30 – 12:00 p.m.

Conversation Cafe

Want to engage in a stimulating conversation and/or meet new people?  The conversation cafe is for you!

Join us every Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at the Olde Forge.  The $25.oo monthly membership allows you to attend these sessions at no additional charge, however donations are always welcome to keep the program running in the months to come.  A guest speaker is not always invited every week but there will be a theme for every week’s discussion.

Some topics include:  Fire Safety at Home, Wills, Power of Attorney and Estate Planning, Mindfulness, musical performances & sing alongs, library programs for seniors, art presentations and much more!

 


Wednesdays, May – September

Location, all programs: Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue. That’s on the east side of Woodroffe between Richmond and Carling.

Starting Date: Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Registration Fee: For our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday programs, you pay just $18.00 per month for all four days. The drop-in fee is $5.00 per day.
